Seattle Construction Injuries
Additional Resources
The nation's construction industry can be extremely hazardous and even deadly for many workers. In Washington State alone, 87 workers were killed on the job during 2006, according to the U.S. Department of Labor – and hundreds more suffered injury. Accidents at construction sites can leave workers permanently disabled – often during their prime earning years since more than half of workplace injuries affect victims under the age of 45.
If you or a loved one has suffered a construction injury in Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Edmonds, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Renton, Lynnwood, Federal Way, Burien, Everett, Auburn, Kent, Issaquah, Tacoma or anywhere in Washington State, and you need legal representation or advice, contact Kenneth Selander, Jr. today. What causes construction injuries?
Construction site injuries are caused by a number of factors, including:
- Scaffolding accidents – causing broken limbs and even spinal or traumatic brain injury
- Crane and hoist accidents – causing broken limbs, sometimes requiring amputation or prosthetics
- Roof and ladder falls
- Falling debris or equipment
- Electrical hazards or chemical leaks, causing shocks, fires and explosions – often leading to serious burn injuries
- Collisions with equipment (tractors, fork-lifts, bulldozers, backhoes)
- Lift equipment failure
- Worn or defective conveyors
Legal Options
Most construction site injuries will involve Workers’ Compensation – but many victims are unaware that they may be entitled to file third-party lawsuits if their injuries were caused by a party other than their employer. Manufacturers of defective equipment, property managers or other contractors other than your employer often play a role in a construction injury – and they should be held accountable.
